7th Day: Finished reading "Head First SQL"

Yesterday finished reading great book to obtain core understanding, it will be my main basic book.

I want to specialize in SQL tuning.

Next book to start reading today is "High performance MySQL" which is written in easy language.

SQL books are generally much easier to read than embedded linux books.

I think I will get MySQL pro cert first before Oracle pro cert.

MySQL coincidence

20th Dec, I was reading Counterhack reloaded and a guy in MySQL t shirt stared at me without me knowing it. The next day I was investigating Oracle.

18th Dec, first time meet person with birthday same with me, my wife collegue Amy. I came in a cab with plate number 1977 same with my wife birth year. We then hailed the same cab again after son school registration.

Head First SQL book is still the best

Read "Head first SQL" today and it is a really great book as it can give you a deep intuitive understanding of SQL using effective brain learning, at chapter 4 with solid stepping.

"SQL for mere mortals" isn't really that great. "Learning SQL" is not that good also.

Briefly read "High performance MySQL" by Jeremy D Zawodny and it has clear and simple writing. Great book to become SQL god.

"Opimizing oracle performance" by Cary Millsap seems like a pretty good book as it is like a poker mathematic analysis book.

3rd chapter "Learning SQL"

Stuck a couple of times in Chapter 3 because of tireness reading on bus.

Went forward to later chapters and read the stuck concepts. Read the beginning of each chapter to see what the goal is.

Then went back to read only the formulas of chapter 2 and 3, because reading the words is too tedious and unneeded. Scan a bit the beginning of each sections to understand the concepts.

Went forward quickly and completed. SQL concept is much easier than other IT eg embedded linux.

No need to read "Head first SQL" because not permanently stuck.

Chrismas holiday coming soon may read the whole "learning sql" book.

First day Oracle

Two days ago started comparing Oracle salary with other IT sectors. Seems like Oracle is higher pay same with Embedded linux.

Oracle seems like probably has somekind of special elegance in advance stage.

Yesterday started reading "Learning SQL" by Alan Beulieu, today on Chapter two. There is a nice booklist recommendation at the end of the book. Book from Jurong East library. Studying the book at home and on bus.

"Mastering Oracle SQL" seems like a nice book by the same author for advance SQL.

"Head First SQL: Your Brain on SQL -- A Learner's Guide" by Lynn Beighley looks like a nice book if stuck in concepts. Book in Singapore library too.

It seems like I can get the main concept of Advance Oracle within 3 months. And later take the Proffesional certification test cost at about S$2500 (taking the compulsory course in Malaysia cheaper).
